The U.S. Department of Energy is partnering with private industry to transform portions of the former Paducah uranium enrichment site in Kentucky into a massive artificial intelligence data center campus. The project repurposes federal land for critical digital infrastructure while addressing the immense power requirements of modern AI.
Led by Brookfield and NextEra Energy, the project involves an estimated $100 billion in private investment. Under the agreement, Brookfield will develop and operate the AI campus, while NextEra Energy will build and own the dedicated power infrastructure required to sustain the facility.
