Chinese AI startup MiniMax has released H3, a general-purpose omni-modal video generation model that challenges the dominance of closed-source industry leaders. The release marks a significant shift in the AI video landscape by providing a high-performance model with open weights, enabling local deployment and fine-tuning for developers.

H3 is capable of processing a diverse array of inputs—including text, images, video, and audio—to generate video clips up to 15 seconds in length.
