Daniel Robertsen, a Norwegian data center executive, abruptly left the meeting in Barangay Abilay Sur, Oton, after residents and officials questioned the project's viability. The proposal involves constructing a 50-megawatt hyperscale AI data center on a 10-hectare property. Tension peaked when Sangguniang Bayan member Annie Rose Paro raised specific concerns regarding the facility's projected water usage and potential evaporation losses.
