NSF Invests $100 Million to Build Regional AI Infrastructure Hubs

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has launched a $100 million program to establish State and Regional Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Hubs. The initiative seeks to eliminate disparities in AI compute access for researchers, students, and educators by funding strategic partnerships between academia, government, and industry.
In its initial phase, the NSF will support up to 10 hubs, with awards limited to one per state or region. Rather than paying for the hardware itself, the NSF is funding the "connective tissue" of these hubs. This includes consortium coordination, workforce training, and the development of faculty and curricula.
