Paris Startup Inbolt Scales AI Vision to Make Industrial Robots Adaptive

Paris-based AI startup Inbolt has developed a 3D vision and artificial intelligence system designed to serve as the "eyes and brain" for industrial robots. The technology enables machines to adapt to their environments in real-time, removing the need for the rigid, precisely engineered settings typically required for automation.
To support its growth, Inbolt raised €15 million in Series A funding led by Exor Ventures. The company's core offering, a software solution known as GuideNOW, is hardware-agnostic, meaning it integrates with standard 3D cameras—such as those produced by Intel RealSense—to provide immediate robotic guidance. This approach allows robots to handle variability and operate in environments originally designed for human workers, significantly reducing the need for costly infrastructure modifications.
The Impact on Manufacturing
The practical application of this technology has already seen success in the automotive sector. Inbolt's system was deployed at the Stellantis Jefferson plant in Detroit, where the integration of this adaptive vision system contributed to the facility becoming one of the top-performing plants within the Stellantis company. This deployment demonstrates that AI-driven flexibility can translate directly into operational efficiency on a massive scale.
Shifting the Automation Paradigm
For decades, industrial robotics have relied on static programming, where a robot performs the exact same motion in a perfectly controlled space. In such systems, if a part is slightly out of place, the entire process fails.
