For years, the consumer electronics industry cultivated a culture of rapid replacement. However, the value proposition has shifted as flagship prices frequently climb above $1,000. Simultaneously, the performance of processors from Qualcomm and Apple has reached a level where the daily requirements of most users—such as streaming, social media, and email—no longer demand the incremental gains provided by yearly chip updates.
