According to the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office, the AI provided dangerous misinformation, advising the group to bring significantly less food and water than was actually required for the ordeal. This lack of essential supplies left the hikers vulnerable once they lost their way. On August 31, a rescue operation was launched involving park rangers and Siskiyou Search and Rescue, who eventually located and assisted the group out of Mud Creek Canyon.
