Apple has integrated Apple Intelligence into the Home app with the release of iOS 27 and tvOS 27, bringing generative AI capabilities to HomeKit Secure Video (HKSV). The update transforms how users interact with security footage, though access to these tools is strictly tied to paid iCloud+ subscription tiers.
The new features allow compatible security cameras to provide AI-generated text summaries of motion alerts, describing exactly who or what was detected. Additionally, users can now perform natural language searches of their recorded footage. Beyond the AI utility, eligible iCloud+ plans also receive a resolution bump for HKSV recordings, moving from 1080p to 4K.
The Cost of Intelligence
Access to these features is scaled based on the number of cameras a user owns and their corresponding storage needs. A single camera requires at least the $9.99 per month iCloud+ plan. For users with more extensive setups, the cost increases significantly, with higher tiers reaching up to $59.99 per month to support up to 15 cameras. Some reports further specify that these Apple Intelligence Home features may specifically require the 2TB iCloud+ plan to function.
