The JCB Hydromax has established a new FIA-confirmed world land speed record for hydrogen-powered vehicles, reaching a two-way average speed of 406.320 mph. The achievement marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of high-performance, zero-carbon propulsion.

On August 11, 2026, at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, driver Andy Green piloted the streamliner to the record-breaking mark. The official result was calculated from two distinct runs: an initial pass of 400.623 mph followed by a second, faster run of 412.135 mph. The vehicle, measuring 32 feet in length, is powered by two modified JCB hydrogen internal combustion engines that produce a combined 1,600 horsepower.
