Mara Raises $7M to Build Backpack-Portable Drone Interceptor

The startup Mara has secured $7 million in pre-seed funding to develop the Spike counter-drone system, a portable interceptor designed for rapid field deployment. The funding round was led by Khosla Ventures.

The Spike system is engineered to combat small first-person view (FPV) drones through a dual-component architecture. According to confirmed technical details, the system utilizes "Spotter" sensors for detection and "Seeker" kinetic interceptors to neutralize threats. To ensure versatility in contested environments, Mara has designed the system for multiple deployment modes; it can be carried in a rucksack by dismounted squads or mounted on vehicles to protect convoys.
