Atlassian shares jumped following a strong Q3 FY2026 earnings report that highlighted a significant acceleration in cloud adoption. The results signal a pivotal moment for the company as it successfully transitions its massive enterprise user base away from legacy on-premise installations.

For the quarter, Atlassian reported revenue of $1.79 billion, representing a 32% increase year-over-year. This marks the company's sharpest top-line growth in at least six quarters. A primary driver of this rally was cloud revenue, which exceeded $1.1 billion for the first time. Growth in the cloud segment accelerated to 29% year-over-year, up from 23% in the previous quarter. Profitability also saw a steep climb, with adjusted earnings per share (EPS) reaching $1.75, an 80% increase from the $0.97 reported in the same period last year.

The Cloud Transition

Atlassian has been aggressively pushing its customers from on-premise Data Center installations to the cloud. This strategic shift often creates a volatile revenue pattern, where Data Center revenue may spike temporarily as customers prepare for migration before eventually moving to cloud subscriptions. While Data Center expansion has begun to normalize, the acceleration in cloud revenue suggests the transition is gaining momentum rather than stalling.

Beyond its core infrastructure, the company is diversifying its product suite. Atlassian confirmed that its Service Collection product has now surpassed $1 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR), indicating a successful expansion into the broader IT Service Management (ITSM) market beyond its traditional Jira and Confluence roots.

The AI Catalyst

Artificial intelligence is now playing a measurable role in Atlassian's financial trajectory. CEO and Co-Founder Mike Cannon-Brookes noted that Rovo, the company's AI product, is seeing usage compound at over 20% month over month. More importantly, the AI tool is acting as a powerful upsell mechanism; according to Cannon-Brookes, customers utilizing Rovo are growing their ARR at roughly twice the rate of those who are not.

Market Implications

These results remove a significant execution risk for investors who feared the cloud migration might hit a ceiling. By proving that it can grow its top line while simultaneously migrating its base, Atlassian is demonstrating a sustainable path to enterprise scale. The ability to leverage AI to double the growth rate of specific customer segments suggests that Rovo could become a primary engine for future revenue expansion.

What to Watch

Investors will now look for whether the 29% cloud growth rate can be maintained or further accelerated in the coming quarters. While the Service Collection milestone proves market fit in the ITSM space, the long-term challenge remains the total conversion of the remaining Data Center customers and the continued monetization of AI features across the entire product ecosystem.
