Oracle and Quantinuum Integrate Quantum Computing into OCI for Hybrid AI
The partnership brings Quantinuum's Helios trapped-ion system into Oracle's AI data centers to merge quantum and classical compute.
Oracle and Quantinuum announced a strategic partnership on August 11, 2026, to integrate quantum computing directly into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The move provides enterprise customers with managed access to quantum hardware alongside existing AI and high-performance computing resources.
As part of the agreement, Quantinuum will deploy its Helios system—a third-generation trapped-ion quantum computer—within a U.S.-based OCI AI data center. The Helios hardware features 98 physical qubits and achieves an average two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.921%, surpassing the critical "three 9s" performance threshold. According to official specifications, a single Helios unit consumes less than 40 kW of power, excluding support infrastructure.
The Push for Commercial Quantum
This collaboration arrives as the technology sector accelerates efforts to move quantum computing from theoretical research into commercial enterprise applications. By embedding quantum hardware within cloud data centers, Oracle and Quantinuum intend to lower the barrier to entry for developers and researchers.
