Interstice and FalconX Bridge Canton Network to Public Blockchains

A new non-custodial swap engine connects institutional finance on Canton with Ethereum, Solana, and the Robinhood Chain.

Interstice Digital and FalconX have launched a non-custodial cross-chain swap engine designed to link institutional blockchain environments with public networks. The system enables the seamless exchange of assets between the Canton Network, Ethereum, Solana, and the Robinhood Chain.

The engine facilitates asset movement without requiring Interstice to take custody of user funds or execute transactions on behalf of users. Liquidity for the swap engine is provided by FalconX, an institutional digital asset prime brokerage. Interstice, the developer of the engine, is a subsidiary of Everyrealm and is backed by a group of prominent investors including a16z Crypto, Coinbase Ventures, Galaxy, and Brevan Howard.

The Institutional Landscape

The Canton Network serves as the institutional anchor for this integration. Unlike public blockchains, Canton is specifically engineered for regulated transactions and tokenized assets, incorporating strict privacy and permissioning controls. This architecture has attracted a consortium of global financial giants, with an ecosystem that includes JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and BNP Paribas.

Canton has recently become a hub for high-value institutional experimentation. Recent activity on the network includes a real-time tokenized US Treasury trade conducted by Franklin Templeton and Tradeweb. Additionally, the network has seen stablecoin deployments from Societe Generale and integration testing by Visa, signaling a shift toward the tokenization of traditional financial instruments.

Bridging the Liquidity Gap

This integration addresses a primary friction point in digital finance: the isolation of regulated, private institutional environments from the deep liquidity of public markets. By bridging Canton with Ethereum and Solana, the swap engine creates a pathway for institutional tokenized assets to interact with broader crypto market liquidity.

Crucially, the non-custodial nature of the engine allows these interactions to occur without compromising the regulatory and security controls required by major banks. This allows institutions to maintain the necessary compliance standards of the Canton Network while accessing the trading activity and assets present on public chains.

Future Outlook

As institutional adoption of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) accelerates, the ability to move these assets across disparate networks will be critical for market efficiency. Observers will now be watching to see which specific asset classes first migrate through this bridge and how the integration affects the volume of institutional activity on public chains like Solana and Ethereum.
