Visa Scales Stablecoin Payouts via ZeroHash Integration

The payments giant is integrating stablecoin functionality into Visa Direct to streamline institutional disbursements across 195 countries.

TechNewsReel Newsroom · August 5, 2026

Visa has integrated stablecoin functionality into its Visa Direct platform through a new partnership with crypto infrastructure provider ZeroHash. This move allows eligible clients to utilize stablecoins for prefunding merchant accounts and executing payouts, marking a significant step in the company's effort to weave blockchain technology into its global financial network.

Under the new arrangement, eligible Visa Direct clients can now leverage ZeroHash rails to manage digital asset disbursements. This capability enables businesses to send payouts and fund accounts using stablecoins, streamlining the movement of digital dollars within a framework already used by institutional players. The scale of this integration is substantial, as Visa Direct currently connects more than 18 billion endpoints across 195 countries.

Scaling Beyond Pilots

This transition represents a shift in Visa's approach to digital assets. The company has previously operated in a more limited capacity, launching smaller pilots specifically targeted at gig workers and content creators using USDC. By partnering with ZeroHash, Visa is moving away from these isolated experiments toward a scalable infrastructure. This allows a broader range of institutional clients to incorporate stablecoins into their existing disbursement workflows without needing to build separate, standalone blockchain systems.

Bridging Fiat and Blockchain

The integration is significant because it bridges the gap between traditional fiat payment rails and the efficiency of blockchain technology. By allowing institutional clients to use stablecoins for payouts, Visa is reducing the inherent friction associated with cross-border settlements and traditional banking delays. For businesses, this provides a regulated and familiar pathway to adopt digital assets while remaining within the security and compliance umbrella of the Visa network.

The Path Forward

As Visa continues to expand its digital asset footprint, the industry will be watching how quickly institutional adoption scales across its 195-country reach. While the infrastructure for payouts is now in place, the long-term impact will depend on the volume of merchant adoption and the evolving regulatory landscape for stablecoins. For now, the partnership establishes a concrete pipeline for digital dollars to move through one of the world's largest payment networks.
