Cisco Security Revenue Hits $2.2 Billion as Agentic AI Escalates Cyber Threats

Cisco reported a significant jump in security revenue for its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter, driven by a corporate rush to counter the rise of autonomous AI threats. The company's security segment grew 14% to $2.2 billion for the period ending July 25, reflecting a broader market shift toward AI-ready defense architectures.
Total company revenue for the quarter rose 18% year-over-year to $17.3 billion. According to company data, more than 1,500 customers adopted new security products during this window, specifically citing the purchase of Hypershield and Secure Access. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins attributed this growth to the expansion of the threat landscape, noting that "agentic AI" is driving demand for observability and security solutions capable of monitoring autonomous agent behavior.
The Rise of AI-Enabled Attacks
This spending surge arrives as malicious actors increasingly integrate artificial intelligence into their toolkits. Data from IBM’s 2026 Cost of a Data Breach study reveals that one in four malicious attacks are now AI-enabled, marking a 56% increase over the previous year. These breaches, which often utilize deepfake impersonation and AI-driven malware, carry a heavy price tag, costing organizations an average of $6 million per incident.
Beyond data breaches, the financial impact of AI-driven deception is mounting. Publicly documented AI-enabled fraud grew more than fivefold between 2023 and 2025, with reported losses approaching $900 million. IBM noted that while these attacks have become faster and cheaper for criminals to launch, they have become increasingly expensive for victims to identify and remediate.

The emergence of "agentic AI"—systems capable of acting autonomously without constant human oversight—has created vulnerabilities that traditional, static security perimeters cannot address.
