N-able Patches CVSS 10.0 RCE in N-central RMM After Active Exploitation
Critical flaws in the N-central platform have exposed Managed Service Providers to extreme supply-chain risks.
N-able has released emergency hotfixes for multiple critical vulnerabilities in its N-central Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platform. The security failures, including a maximum-severity remote code execution flaw and an actively exploited authentication bypass, create a significant supply-chain risk for managed service providers (MSPs).
On September 6, 2026, the company disclosed CVE-2026-86218, a pre-authentication remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability with a CVSS score of 10.0. This flaw affects self-hosted deployments on HF3, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the server without credentials. N-able identified HF4 as the required fix. This disclosure follows a crisis in August 2026 involving CVE-2026-18577, an authentication bypass flaw resulting from an incomplete fix for a previous vulnerability, CVE-2026-18556. Due to active exploitation, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) added CVE-2026-18577 to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog on August 3, 2026.
The RMM Supply-Chain Risk
N-central allows MSPs to administer thousands of endpoints across diverse client networks from a single centralized console. Because the platform holds administrative credentials for all downstream clients, it is a high-value target. A compromise of the N-central console does not just impact the MSP; it provides a gateway into every client environment managed by that provider, mirroring the systemic risk seen in previous major attacks targeting SolarWinds and Kaseya.
