LiuGong North America commercially launched the 924FE heavy battery-electric crawler excavator on August 11, 2026. The move signals a strategic push to replace diesel-powered machinery in high-demand infrastructure and earthmoving sectors.
The 924FE features an operating weight of approximately 28,100 kg (61,950 lb). According to technical specifications reported by CCE Online News, the machine is powered by a 423 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a 165 kW rated electric motor. It is equipped with a 1.0-cubic-metre standard bucket to handle heavy-duty material movement. To address the primary hurdle of electric heavy equipment—downtime—the excavator supports DC fast charging, with a claimed full-charge time of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
