Skoda Peaq 90 Hits 582 Miles on Single Charge in Efficiency Run
A production-spec flagship SUV exceeded its official WLTP range by nearly 45% during a TÜV SÜD-supervised trial.
Skoda has demonstrated the theoretical efficiency limits of its new electric flagship, driving a production-spec Peaq 90 for 936 kilometers (approximately 582 miles) on a single charge. The specialized run, which traveled from Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic to Zandvoort in the Netherlands, was supervised by TÜV SÜD to verify the results.
The vehicle significantly outperformed its official WLTP range of 647 km, beating the certified figure by nearly 45%. According to data from the run, the Peaq 90 maintained an average energy consumption of 9.2 kWh/100 km. The car used for the trial was a standard production-spec model equipped with a 210 kW (286 hp) rear-wheel drive motor and 19-inch low-rolling-resistance tires. Power was supplied by a battery with a usable capacity of 86 kWh, out of a 91 kWh gross capacity.
Engineering for Efficiency
The Peaq is Skoda's largest all-electric SUV, designed to compete in the high-capacity segment with a seven-seat configuration. To achieve these results, the vehicle utilizes a platform optimized for high energy density and aerodynamics, boasting a drag coefficient of 0.249. The model is available in several variants, including the 60, 90, and 90x, all aimed at balancing interior space with energy economy.
The Implications of the Run
While the 582-mile figure is not representative of typical daily driving, the exercise serves as a critical proof of concept for the platform's maximum theoretical efficiency. By utilizing hypermiling techniques, secondary roads, and favorable weather conditions, Skoda has shown that the vehicle can substantially exceed its laboratory-certified range. For the industry, this highlights the potential for large, seven-seat electric vehicles to achieve high efficiency levels when optimized for specific conditions.
Looking Ahead
As the Peaq enters the market, the focus will shift from theoretical maximums to real-world performance across diverse climates and driving styles. While the TÜV SÜD-supervised run confirms the hardware's capability, the actual range experienced by consumers will depend on the balance between the vehicle's aerodynamic advantages and the demands of daily utility.
