Toyota is broadening its electric vehicle footprint in Canada with the introduction of the 2027 C-HR and the bZ Woodland edition. These releases mark a strategic push to offer a wider spectrum of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) tailored to different price points and lifestyle needs.

According to official Toyota Canada data, the 2027 C-HR enters the market as the brand's most affordable BEV, with a starting MSRP positioned below $45,000. Alongside this compact offering, Toyota is launching the 2027 bZ Woodland, a ruggedized version of its electric series designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts. The bZ Woodland is available in two all-wheel drive grades—the standard bZ Woodland and the bZ Woodland Premium—with pricing starting at $59,905 MSRP.

Diversifying the Electric Portfolio

The reintroduction of the C-HR comes after the model previously exited several markets. It returns with updated styling and powertrains to fill a critical gap in the compact crossover segment. Simultaneously, Toyota is applying a proven formula from its internal combustion engine (ICE) lineup to its "Beyond Zero" (bZ) electric series. By adding the Woodland trim, Toyota is mirroring the success of the rugged RAV4 Woodland editions, which have historically performed well in regions with demanding terrain.

Targeting the Adventure Segment

This expansion is a direct response to Canadian consumer preferences for all-weather capability and outdoor utility. By offering a dedicated "adventure" trim in the electric space, Toyota aims to attract buyers who want to transition to zero-emission driving without sacrificing the rugged aesthetics and all-wheel-drive functionality required for Canadian winters and backcountry exploration. The move signals a commitment to diversifying the EV market beyond urban commuters to include lifestyle-driven buyers.

Market Outlook

As Toyota scales its North American EV strategy, the focus remains on providing a tiered entry system—ranging from the accessible C-HR to the premium, capability-focused bZ Woodland. Industry observers will be watching to see how these specific price points impact Toyota's market share against established BEV competitors in the compact and mid-size crossover categories. While the core pricing is set, further details on specific range figures and charging infrastructure integration for these new models remain the primary points of interest for prospective buyers.
