Apple Refines iOS 27 Beta 5 With New Icons and Gated AI Features

Apple released the fifth developer beta of iOS 27 on August 10, 2026, signaling a transition from feature expansion to final visual polish. The update focuses on refining the user interface and expanding specific AI capabilities before the operating system's official public release this September.

This version introduces updated "Liquid Glass" app icons for several core system applications, including Safari, Siri, Settings, Remote, the App Store, and Preview. Beyond aesthetics, the update expands Siri AI voice customization, introducing Pace and Expressivity sliders that are now available for British voices. Additionally, Apple has expanded the "Create a Pass" feature in the Wallet app to users outside of the United States and enabled 5G+ connectivity in Spain.

To give users more control over their device's interface, Beta 5 adds a "Before Searching" section within the Settings menu. This new menu allows users to manage the search interface by controlling the number of app suggestions displayed and toggling the visibility of app shortcuts and recent searches.
