Canon has launched the EOS R6 V, a full-frame camera that removes the electronic viewfinder and mechanical shutter to prioritize professional video recording. Priced at $2,499 body-only, the R6 V targets content creators who need cinema-grade features without the bulk or cost of dedicated cinema rigs.
Video-First Design
The R6 V centers on a 32.5-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor shared with the R6 Mark III and C50 cinema camera. It records 7K RAW video at 30p in open-gate 3:2 aspect ratio, or 60p in 17:9 format. An active internal cooling fan enables extended recording sessions without thermal shutdowns.
Connectivity includes dual card slots (CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II), a full-sized HDMI port, and USB-C. In-body image stabilization provides up to 7.5 stops of shake reduction. The electronic shutter supports still photography at up to 40fps in 12-bit RAW.
