According to an analysis by Android Police's Parth Shah, the app's primary strength is no longer its minimalist design, but its ability to function as a voice-controlled personal database. Users can now instruct Gemini to create a Keep note directly from an AI-generated response, streamlining the transition from research to storage. Beyond simple capture, Gemini can perform granular retrieval, such as extracting specific details—like the itinerary for Day 6 and 7 of a trip—from a larger note via voice command.

For years, Google Keep was defined by its "invisible" design, intentionally avoiding the complex folder hierarchies and database structures found in competitors like Notion, Evernote, or OneNote. While this simplicity made it a favorite for quick captures, it lacked the power of a structured knowledge base.
