Google adds Gemini-powered 'Remembered' items to Android Find Hub
A new AI-driven memory bank allows users to log the location of non-trackable belongings via voice and photos.
Google has integrated a new memory capability for Gemini into the Find Hub app as part of the September 2026 Android Feature Drop. The update allows users to leverage AI to track the location of everyday items that cannot be equipped with physical GPS or Bluetooth tags.
Users can now instruct Gemini to remember where specific objects are placed—such as a passport in a bedroom drawer or spare keys in a kitchen cabinet—using voice-activated logging. These entries are stored in a dedicated "Remembered" tab within the Find Hub app. To improve retrieval accuracy, the feature supports optional photo attachments for each logged item. Users can recover this information either by querying Gemini directly or by manually browsing the Remembered tab.
The shift to manual memory
Traditionally, Google's Find Hub has relied on hardware-based tracking, utilizing Bluetooth and GPS tags to locate devices and belongings. While effective for high-value electronics or keys, this method is impractical for small or infrequently used items that do not justify a physical tracker. By integrating Gemini's natural language processing, Google is expanding the hub's utility, transforming it from a hardware dashboard into a personal digital memory bank that accepts manual, text-based entries.
The push for Personal Intelligence
This update signals a broader strategic shift toward "Personal Intelligence," where AI moves beyond general knowledge to manage specific, real-world context from a user's daily life. According to Ali Salman Zia of Android Police, this integration is intended to make Gemini feel like a system that pulls real context from a user's life rather than acting as a basic assistant with no memory. By filling the gap between high-tech trackers and traditional note-taking, Google aims to reduce the "everyday friction" of losing track of mundane household objects.
Availability and requirements
The Remembered items feature requires Android 16 or later to function. It is currently available in countries where both the Gemini AI and the Find Hub application are supported. Users should ensure their system software is updated to the September 2026 Feature Drop to access the new tab and voice-logging capabilities.
