Google Gemini now converts handwritten photos into Google Keep checklists

Google has integrated Gemini's multimodal image understanding with Google Keep, allowing users to transcribe handwritten notes from photos directly into formatted digital checklists. This workflow bridges the gap between analog note-taking and cloud organization by automating the digitization process.
To use the feature, users must first enable the Google Workspace extension within Gemini's 'Personal Intelligence' settings, specifically under Connected apps. Once active, the process involves uploading a photo of a physical notebook to Gemini and providing a specific prompt. According to Android Police, an effective prompt is: "Transcribe this messy to-do list, clean up the wording, format as checkboxes, and save it to Keep."
The shift from manual entry
Traditionally, Google Keep has relied on manual text entry or voice-to-text for list creation. While voice transcription is available, it frequently requires significant manual cleanup to be usable. By leveraging advanced optical character recognition (OCR) and multimodal capabilities, Gemini can now interpret handwriting and structure it into a functional format without the need for manual typing.
