Honor Unveils AiMAGE Imaging Engine and ARRI Partnership for Robot Phone

AiMAGE Architecture
AiMAGE is a chip-device-cloud imaging engine that integrates capture, processing, editing, and AI-assisted creation across all three layers. The system uses a Transformer-based native AI Image Signal Processor (ISP) to reconstruct the traditional image processing pipeline, alongside Event-Based Vision Sensor (EVS) technology and next-generation pixel arrays.
ARRI Collaboration
Honor revealed a strategic technical partnership with ARRI, the German cinema camera manufacturer regarded as an industry gold standard. The collaboration includes a joint imaging technology lab focusing on sensor optics, dynamic range, and production workflows.
Harald Brendel, ARRI Director of Image Science, stated: "Our work with HONOR is not about a simple brand collaboration or a filter pack. It is about bringing professional cinema color standards and workflow thinking into mobile creation."
The partnership debuts with the upcoming Honor Robot Phone, which will support ARRI LogC3 encoding, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks—color science standards that allow mobile footage to be graded and matched with professional cinema cameras in post-production.
Robot Phone Hardware
The device features a titanium-alloy three-axis gimbal (also described as 4DoF in some sources) with a gimbal motor weighing 2.6 grams, powered by the Honor Yuguang H1 imaging chip. The main camera uses a 200MP sensor (1/1.28-inch, f/1.6), complemented by a 200MP periscope telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

This escalation in mobile camera competition shifts focus from raw megapixel counts to professional color science and physical stabilization. By providing actual production workflows rather than simulated filters, Honor aims to disrupt the entry-level professional video market. If successful, creators could shoot post-production-ready footage on a smartphone that integrates seamlessly with existing cinema camera pipelines.
