The probe follows the arrest of a Thane-based BBA student accused of the rape, torture, and attempted murder of a 16-year-old girl in the Dighori area.
According to police reports, the accused lured the victim to a rented room in Dighori, where he tied her hands and legs. Once restrained, the victim was sexually assaulted and suffered 20 knife injuries. Authorities have since seized two mobile phones and a laptop from the suspect to trace his digital footprint and communications.

For nearly a year, the accused operated on social media under the alias 'Akash Mehra,' using the fake identity to target minor girls. He specifically utilized the messaging platform Discord to communicate with the victim and two of her friends. While the friends eventually severed ties due to the suspect's abusive behavior, the survivor remained under his influence, which ultimately led to the violent encounter in the rented flat.
