Plaud Launches AI Earbuds With Standalone LTE Connectivity

Plaud has unveiled the Plaud One, a pair of AI-powered earbuds designed to record, transcribe, and summarize both in-person and online conversations. The device marks a strategic shift for the company toward a standalone wearable form factor that operates independently of a paired phone.
The core innovation is the integration of 4G/LTE connectivity via an eSIM located within the charging case. This allows the device to upload recordings directly to Plaud's servers in over 80 countries and regions without requiring a cellular contract or a companion smartphone. For early adopters, the company is offering an "Explorer Edition" priced at $249.99, which includes $200 in complimentary Plaud tokens.
A Shift in AI Wearables
This launch follows the company's previous success with the Plaud Note and Note Pro, which were magnetic AI voice recorders that attached to the back of smartphones. By moving into the earbud market, Plaud is attempting to solve the "smartphone dependency" that has hindered other recent AI gadgets, such as the Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin. Rather than creating a new category of device, Plaud has integrated its AI capabilities into a common accessory that users already wear daily.
Productivity Integration
Beyond simple recording, the Plaud One is positioned as a productivity tool. The system integrates with a suite of professional applications, including Notion, Slack, Gmail, and Google Calendar, to streamline the workflow from conversation to actionable task. On the hardware side, each earbud features 16MB of local storage, providing a total of 32MB across the pair. The earbuds are capable of recording for up to six hours on a single charge before needing to be returned to the LTE-enabled case.
The Path to Product-Market Fit
By focusing on a high-utility niche—meeting transcription and professional productivity—Plaud is testing whether a specific use case can provide the product-market fit that broader "AI assistants" have struggled to find.
