RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro Debuts With Detachable Action Camera
The modular rugged phone pairs a Dimensity 8400 chipset and 9,300mAh battery with a standalone, waterproof recording module.
RugOne has unveiled the Xsnap 7 Pro at IFA 2026, introducing a rugged Android smartphone that features a magnetically detachable action camera. The device is designed to merge the durability of a professional rugged phone with the versatility of a standalone camera for hard-to-reach recording.
The Xsnap 7 Pro's standout feature is its modular camera, which can be detached from the main chassis for hands-free use. According to product specifications, this module is waterproof up to 5 meters and supports 2.7K recording at 30fps. To ensure independence from the phone during capture, the module includes 64GB of built-in storage and provides up to 40 minutes of recording on a single charge.
High-Performance Rugged Hardware
Under the hood, the Xsnap 7 Pro moves beyond the basic specifications typically found in the rugged segment. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chipset and features a 6.67-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. To support extended field use, RugOne has equipped the device with a massive 9,300mAh battery.
For primary photography, the phone utilizes a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a specialized 64MP infrared night-vision camera. The entire chassis carries an IP68/IP69K protection rating, ensuring resistance against dust, high-pressure water jets, and immersion.
A New Approach to Modularity
This release represents a strategic shift for RugOne, a brand under Ulefone. By integrating a standalone recording module, the company is attempting to eliminate the need for outdoor enthusiasts to carry both a smartphone and a separate action camera, such as a GoPro. This positioning targets a specific niche of hikers, cyclists, and field workers who require a communication tool that can also function as a flexible capture device in extreme environments.
Availability and Pricing
RugOne is bringing the Xsnap 7 Pro to market via a Kickstarter campaign beginning September 7, 2026. Early backers on the platform can expect pricing to start at €799. For those purchasing through global retail channels later, the expected price is $999.
Industry observers will be watching to see if the modular camera's 40-minute battery life and 2.7K resolution are sufficient to truly replace dedicated action cameras, or if the device will remain a specialized tool for a small group of power users.
