Samsung officially launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra on July 22, 2026, marking the first time the company has extended its Ultra branding to the foldable lineup. The device starts at $2,099 (CNET lists $2,100).

Preorder Incentives

Samsung and retail partners are offering substantial preorder deals. Trade-in credits reach up to $1,200 for both the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra models, according to CNET, TechRadar, and Tom's Guide.

T-Mobile runs a tiered promotion: customers activating a new line on Experience More or Beyond plans receive $1,100 off without a trade-in. With an eligible trade-in, savings climb to $1,900, bringing the Ultra's price down to $200. Amazon offers a $350 gift card with Fold 8 Ultra preorders, confirmed by ZDNet and Android Authority.

Hardware Specifications

The Fold 8 Ultra features a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch internal foldable screen, both reaching 3,000 nits peak brightness. Power comes from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, with RAM configurations up to 16GB on the 1TB storage model. A 5,000mAh battery handles power demands.

Samsung claims the device is its slimmest foldable yet, measuring 4.1mm when unfolded. This profile is achieved through a new Flex Titanium display backing, which replaces previous materials in pursuit of durability without bulk.

Market Positioning

The Ultra tier expansion follows Samsung's successful branding strategy with its S-series flagships. By introducing a premium foldable variant with enhanced camera hardware, larger batteries, and titanium construction, Samsung aims to defend its foldable market leadership against growing competition.

The official release date is August 7, 2026, giving preorder customers roughly two weeks before general availability. The aggressive trade-in deals effectively lower the barrier to entry for a device that would otherwise command a strictly premium price point.

Availability

The Fold 8 Ultra launches alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. All three devices share the August 7 release window, with preorder incentives varying by carrier and retailer.
