Samsung Leaks Reveal Five-Device Foldable and Rollable Lineup Through 2028

Samsung is preparing its most ambitious foldable hardware push yet, with leaked internal codenames revealing a five-device roadmap that includes a second-generation tri-fold phone and the company's first rollable-screen device.

According to reporting from Android Authority, SammyGuru, and 9to5Google, which all cite GalaxyClub as the original source, Samsung has assigned internal codenames to five devices in development: B9 (Galaxy Z Flip 9), H9 (Galaxy Z Fold 9), Q9A (Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra), Q9B (Galaxy Z TriFold 2), and Z9 (a rollable device).

The three mainstream foldables—Flip 9, Fold 9, and Fold 9 Ultra—are expected to launch in summer 2027, following Samsung's annual refresh cycle. The leak comes weeks after Samsung's July 2026 launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8.

Rollable and Tri-Fold Ambitions

The Z9 rollable device represents Samsung's most significant form-factor experiment to date. Android Authority reports the device leans toward a tablet footprint rather than a conventional smartphone, potentially positioning it as a "Rollable Flex" tablet. Sources indicate it may not reach market until early 2028, suggesting Samsung is taking additional development time to refine the rolling mechanism.

The Q9B codename corresponds to a second-generation tri-fold device, building on Samsung's initial tri-fold prototype shown in recent years. A tri-fold design would allow a more compact folded footprint while expanding to tablet-sized dimensions when fully opened.

Strategic Implications
