Samsung to End Direct OneDrive Integration for Gallery App in 2026

Samsung is terminating the direct synchronization between its native Gallery app and Microsoft OneDrive on September 30, 2026. This move ends a deep technical partnership that allowed Galaxy users to manage cloud-stored photos as if they were stored locally on their devices.
According to Microsoft Support and Android Police, the integration will cease to function after the cutoff date. While photos already backed up to OneDrive will not be deleted and remain accessible via the OneDrive app, web browsers, and PCs, they will no longer automatically appear within the Samsung Gallery interface. Technology analyst Parth Shah noted that while existing uploads remain safe, "those cloud-only files will no longer automatically appear inside Samsung Gallery" once the sync ends.

Since 2019, Samsung and Microsoft have maintained a tight integration designed to streamline the mobile experience. This partnership allowed OneDrive to act as a native extension of the Samsung Gallery, mirroring photos seamlessly between the hardware and the cloud.
