Samsung Unveils Bespoke OTR Microwave with DualVent Technology
The new appliance uses front and bottom air intakes to capture up to 82% of kitchen fumes.
Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new Over-the-Range (OTR) microwave for the U.S. and Canada markets featuring proprietary DualVent technology. The appliance is designed to solve a long-standing limitation of OTR units by improving the capture of smoke and steam from cooktops.
The core of the new system is the DualVent technology, which employs air intakes located at both the bottom and the front of the unit. According to Samsung, this configuration allows the microwave to achieve a fume capture rate of up to 82%. To support this performance, the unit is equipped with a ventilation capacity of 500 CFM.
A Unified AI Ecosystem
The microwave is a key component of Samsung's 2026 Bespoke AI kitchen lineup. This broader suite of appliances emphasizes a "Unified Design" philosophy, utilizing reduced depths to create a built-in appearance and a cohesive stainless-look finish across the kitchen. While the microwave focuses on ventilation, other products in the 2026 lineup, including refrigerators and a new AI Wine Cellar, integrate Google Gemini to enhance smart functionality.
Solving the Front-Burner Gap
Traditional over-the-range microwaves typically struggle to capture fumes generated on front burners, as the airflow is primarily concentrated at the rear of the cooktop. By introducing a front ventilation wing, Samsung aims to provide performance levels comparable to standalone range hoods while maintaining the space-saving footprint of a combined microwave and vent.
"The new Samsung Over-the-Range Microwave with DualVent technology brings powerful ventilation and convenient cooking features into one practical form factor, which saves space and makes a style statement," said Hyoung Min Park, VP and Head of Customer Experience Team of the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics.
Market Outlook
The introduction of the DualVent system signals a shift toward higher-performance ventilation in integrated appliances. As consumers increasingly seek the aesthetic of a built-in kitchen without sacrificing the utility of a professional-grade hood, Samsung is positioning its Bespoke line to bridge that gap. Future updates on the specific retail availability and pricing for the North American market are expected following the product's unveiling at CES 2026.
