TechNewsReel Newsroom · August 10, 2026

Smart Communications has officially opened pre-orders for the HUAWEI Pura 90s series in the Philippines, bringing the brand's latest flagship hardware to the local market. The pre-order window for the Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max remains open until August 19, 2026.

Customers can secure the devices through Smart's official website or at physical store locations. The rollout includes multiple acquisition paths, allowing users to choose between Smart Postpaid plans, premium Infinity plans, or Prepaid bundles. For those opting for straight payments via Smart Postpaid, the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro is priced at ₱34,700, while the top-tier Pura 90s Pro Max is available for ₱58,800. Monthly installment options are also available over 24 months, costing ₱1,629 for the Pro and ₱2,758 for the Pro Max.

High-End Hardware and AI Imaging

The Pura 90s series is positioned as a photography powerhouse, headlined by a 200MP ultra-large-sensor telephoto camera capable of up to 20x zoom. Under the hood, the devices are powered by the Kirin 9030S chip paired with a Maeloon 935 GPU, designed to handle intensive AI-powered photography tools and high-performance multitasking.

For consumers looking outside of carrier-linked plans, retail pricing starts at ₱54,999 for the Pura 90s Pro and ₱79,999 for the Pura 90s Pro Max. To incentivize early adoption, Smart is offering a suite of freebies for Postpaid customers, including a HUAWEI Watch Fit Pro, a HUAWEI Pura 90s Gift Box, and HUAWEI Care+ coverage. Members of the Smart Infinity tier receive further exclusives, with HUAWEI FreeArc Buds added to the standard pre-order package.

Market Context and Strategic Impact

The Philippine launch follows the global debut of the Pura 90s series in July 2026. By partnering with Smart Communications, Huawei is leveraging a major local carrier to integrate its advanced Kirin hardware and AI imaging capabilities with established 5G network infrastructure. This strategy allows Huawei to maintain a strong foothold in the premium smartphone segment of the Philippine market.

This arrival is particularly significant as Huawei continues to navigate global software ecosystem challenges. By focusing on hardware superiority—specifically in the realm of mobile photography—and utilizing carrier partnerships for distribution, the company can sustain its presence among high-end users who prioritize camera performance and connectivity over specific software ecosystems.

Looking Ahead

As the pre-order period progresses toward the August 19 deadline, the industry will be watching how the Pura 90s series performs against other flagship competitors in the region. While the hardware specifications are confirmed, the long-term adoption of the Kirin 9030S chipset in the local market will serve as a key indicator of Huawei's resilience and growth trajectory in Southeast Asia.
