Tecno has unveiled its Next-Gen Borderless Concept Phone at IFA 2026 in Berlin, showcasing a device with a claimed 0mm visible bezel on all four sides. The prototype represents a significant shift in hardware design by pushing the display entirely flush with the device chassis.
To achieve the zero-bezel effect, Tecno attributes the design to three primary engineering advancements: a full structural redesign of the frame, new screen packaging techniques, and advanced internal component stacking. Despite the removal of the outer borders, the device still retains a standard hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The concept was presented as a demonstration of the company's current engineering capabilities in display integration.
The Bezel Race
For years, the smartphone industry has been engaged in a "bezel race," with market leaders like Apple and Samsung consistently pushing screen-to-body ratios above 90%. Most modern flagships utilize chip-on-plastic (COP) packaging to minimize the bottom "chin" of the device.
