XGIMI Aura 3 Series: World's First 4K UST Projectors with 120Hz Support
The Aura 3 Pro and Max merge cinematic scale with high-frame-rate gaming and Google TV integration.
XGIMI has unveiled the Aura 3 Series ultra-short-throw (UST) laser projectors at IFA 2026. The new lineup aims to merge the scale of home cinema with the performance of high-end gaming monitors.
The series consists of two models, the Aura 3 Pro and the Aura 3 Max. According to 9to5Google, these are the world's first 4K UST projectors to support 4K 120Hz output. To achieve this high refresh rate at 4K resolution, XGIMI utilizes two DLPC 8545 display controllers operating in parallel. The top-tier Aura 3 Max pushes visual performance further with 5,700 ISO lumens of brightness and 110% BT.2020 color gamut coverage.
High-Performance Hardware
Under the hood, the Aura 3 Series employs an RGB Triple Laser engine and a Dynamic Dual Iris system, which allows for contrast ratios of up to 8,000:1. For audio, XGIMI has integrated an 80W Harman Kardon speaker system to provide a complete theater experience without the need for external soundbars. On the software side, the projectors are powered by Google TV, providing native support for major streaming platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube.
A New Standard for Gaming
This launch represents a significant shift for the gaming community by bringing console-grade high-frame-rate performance to screens as large as 200 inches. Unlike traditional projectors, the ultra-short-throw design removes the need for massive installation distances. To support competitive gaming, the hardware includes HDMI 2.1, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and AMD FreeSync Premium. XGIMI claims input latency as low as 1ms, effectively eliminating the lag typically associated with large-scale projection.
Market Implications and Next Steps
By combining high-refresh-rate gaming specs with a native smart TV interface, XGIMI is positioning the Aura 3 Series as a viable replacement for traditional large-format televisions. The integration of high-end audio and streaming software suggests a strategy focused on the premium home cinema market where users no longer want to choose between gaming performance and cinematic scale.
Following the debut at IFA 2026, XGIMI is utilizing a Kickstarter launch strategy for the official release of the series. Potential buyers will be watching for final pricing and regional availability as the company moves from the exhibition floor to the consumer market.
