Xiaomi is advancing its push toward vertical integration with the upcoming Pad 8S Pro, which leaks indicate will be the first tablet powered by the company's self-developed Xring O3 SoC.

The Xring O3 chipset features a Prime core with a maximum clock frequency of 4.05 GHz. Its proprietary GPU is rumored to reach 1.497 GHz, a 25% increase over the previous generation's 1.2 GHz clock speed.

Hardware and Display

The tablet is expected to feature a 12.5-inch LCD screen with a 3.2K resolution. To support the high-performance silicon, the device will include 16GB of RAM and a substantial 12,000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging.

On the imaging front, the Pad 8S Pro is slated for a 50MP main rear camera, a 2MP secondary rear sensor, and a 32MP selfie camera.

Software and Strategy

The device will run HyperOS 4.0, further tightening the integration between Xiaomi's custom hardware and its software ecosystem.

By transitioning to the Xring O3, Xiaomi aims to reduce its reliance on third-party silicon providers like Qualcomm and MediaTek. This strategy follows the Xring O1, which remained exclusive to the Chinese market, as the company seeks a competitive edge in power efficiency and performance for its premium tablet and foldable segments.
