Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6 Lite and Active leak with aggressive budget pricing
Leaked retail listings in Hungary reveal specifications and low-cost pricing for Xiaomi's latest entry-level wearables.
Xiaomi is expanding its budget wearable lineup with the upcoming Redmi Watch 6 Lite and Redmi Watch 6 Active. Leaked details from price tracking sites in Hungary suggest the company is doubling down on the entry-level market, offering two distinct, low-cost alternatives to the standard Redmi Watch 6.
According to reports from GSMArena, the Redmi Watch 6 Lite will feature a 1.96-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 410 x 502 pixels. It is expected to be powered by a 470mAh battery and will carry a price tag of approximately HUF 25,000, which translates to roughly €60 to €70. The more affordable Redmi Watch 6 Active is positioned even lower, priced around HUF 17,000 (approximately €45 to €50). The Active model is slated to include a 1.85-inch AMOLED display (390 x 450 pixels), a 470mAh battery, and support for more than 140 different sports modes.
Market Positioning
These devices serve as successors to the Redmi Watch 5 Lite and Active models. They are designed to sit below the standard Redmi Watch 6, which has already officially launched in Hungary. For comparison, the standard model is priced significantly higher, ranging between HUF 38,000 and HUF 45,000 depending on whether the device includes NFC capabilities. By introducing the Lite and Active variants, Xiaomi creates a tiered ecosystem that allows consumers to choose based on screen size and budget without jumping to a premium series.
Strategic Implications
This tiered release strategy highlights Xiaomi's intent to saturate the budget wearable segment. By offering multiple price points—ranging from roughly €45 to €70—the company can attract a wider array of consumer segments, from casual users who only need basic fitness tracking to those wanting a larger, more vibrant AMOLED screen. This approach puts pressure on other budget manufacturers by providing a comprehensive range of options that cover almost every entry-level price bracket.
What to Watch
While the core specifications and pricing have surfaced via retail leaks, Xiaomi has yet to officially announce the global launch dates for these models. Industry observers are now waiting for confirmation on specific battery endurance figures and water-resistance ratings, as these details remain unverified. The official rollout in the European market will likely determine if these aggressive price points are maintained across other regions.
