Google integrates third-party service TuneMyMusic directly into its app to eliminate the friction of migrating playlists.
YouTube Music has integrated a native tool allowing users to migrate their entire music libraries and playlists from Spotify directly within the app. The move aims to remove the technical hurdles that typically discourage users from switching streaming platforms.
The transfer feature is powered by the third-party service TuneMyMusic and is embedded deep within the application's interface. Users can access the tool by navigating to Settings, then Privacy and data, and selecting "Transfer playlists from other apps." Once activated, the integration handles the migration of curated tracks and playlists without requiring the user to leave the YouTube Music environment.
The end of manual migration
Historically, users moving between music streaming services faced a significant "switching cost." Migrating years of curated data usually required the use of standalone third-party applications or the tedious process of manual entry. By embedding a partner tool like TuneMyMusic into its native settings, YouTube Music effectively lowers the barrier to entry for those looking to leave competitors.

Users may still need to perform some manual cleanup after the initial transfer to ensure their library is perfectly mirrored. It remains to be seen if Google will expand this native integration to include other major streaming competitors beyond Spotify.
