Cover Corporation and QualiArts have released 'hololive Dreams' (holodori), a rhythm-RPG hybrid now available on iOS, Android, and Steam. The title marks a significant milestone as the first official first-party mobile game from the massive virtual YouTuber agency.

Launched on July 23, 2026, the game features 54 playable hololive talents and a library of over 150 songs, comprising both original tracks and covers. The core experience integrates traditional rhythm gameplay into a broader loop centered on developing a virtual theme park on an uninhabited island. Beyond the music, players engage in character nurturing and four distinct non-rhythm mini-games: a food-ingredient matching puzzle, rope skipping, a poker/Mahjong hybrid card game, and an obstacle course supporting up to 16 players. The game debuted with two primary areas, Harmony Garden and Mega Sphere.

Strategic Genre Blending

Hololive has previously licensed its intellectual property for various titles, but 'hololive Dreams' represents a strategic shift in how the agency approaches gaming. By evolving from a pure rhythm game into a "Rhythm RPG," the developers aimed to increase the scale of the experience. This approach targets users who are fans of the hololive IP but may not be enthusiasts of high-difficulty rhythm mechanics.

Mr. O, the producer of hololive Dreams, noted that the team wanted the game to be larger in scale than typical rhythm titles. He explained that if a player is not interested in the rhythm aspect, a standard music game is not engaging even if they like the IP. To ensure a balanced experience, Mr. O emphasized that "every talent in this game is a protagonist," asserting that there is no playing favorites among the cast.

Market Positioning and Sustainability

This multifaceted design is a direct response to the saturated Japanese mobile gaming market. By combining park management and character growth with music, the developers are attempting to lower the barrier to entry for a broader audience while creating a more sustainable, long-term gameplay loop.

Future Outlook

Moving forward, the game's live-service model will lean heavily into the mobile experience. According to the developers, events are geared more toward mobile players, with a schedule of approximately three events per month. Players can expect the world to expand as the developers integrate the extensive roster of talents into the evolving theme park environment.
