Final Fantasy 14 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026, Square Enix confirmed during Fan Festival in Berlin, bringing one of the world's most successful MMORPGs to Nintendo's next-generation hardware.
The Switch 2 version requires 117.2 GB of storage space according to the US eShop listing, setting a high benchmark for storage requirements on the platform. Players will not need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to access the game.
Subscription Model and Free Trial
The Switch 2 version operates on a separate monthly subscription from other platforms. However, existing subscribers on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox receive a 50% discount on the Switch 2 subscription.
Square Enix is offering a free early access period of approximately one month before the official August 4 launch to test server stability, in addition to the standard free trial.
Evercold Expansion Revealed
The announcement coincided with the first teaser for Evercold, the next major expansion launching in January 2027. The expansion introduces the Bastion tank class and begins the Godless Realms Saga story arc.
