Final Fantasy XIV and FF7 Remake Unite for 'Beyond the Lifestream' Raid in Evercold
Square Enix's first full-scale collaboration between the two franchises launches January 2027 with a new 8-player raid series and intermediate difficulty mode.
Square Enix has announced the first major collaboration between Final Fantasy XIV and the Final Fantasy VII Remake project: an 8-player raid series titled 'Beyond the Lifestream' arriving with the Evercold expansion in January 2027.
The raid was revealed during the FFXIV Fan Fest in Berlin on July 25, 2026, where FFVII Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi joined FFXIV director Naoki Yoshida on stage. Evercold itself was first announced at the Anaheim Fan Fest in April 2026.
Three-Tier Raid Launches in Patch 8.01
Beyond the Lifestream will launch in Patch 8.01, shortly after Evercold debuts. The raid series consists of three tiers and features three difficulty levels: Normal, Intermediate (a new mode positioned between the standard tiers), and Savage.
The collaboration brings together development teams from both franchises. The raid's story is written by Motomu Toriyama alongside the FFXIV scenario team, under the supervision of Kazushige Nojima, with Tetsuya Nomura overseeing art direction.
"Both FFVIIR and FFXIV teams have come together as a united Final Fantasy front for this collaboration," Hamaguchi said.
Gold Saucer Gets FF7 Typing Game
Ahead of the raid, a Final Fantasy VII-themed typing game called 'Keybound Brawler' will arrive in the Gold Saucer during Patch 7.56, launching October 28, 2026.
Some outlets have reported that Barret and Tifa cosplay outfits will also be added to the Gold Saucer in Patch 7.56, though this detail has not been independently confirmed by multiple authoritative sources.
Timing Coincides with FF7 Remake Finale
Evercold is the sixth expansion for Final Fantasy XIV and begins the 'Godless Realms Saga' story arc. The collaboration is timed to coincide with the launch of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the conclusion of the FF7 Remake trilogy, scheduled for Spring 2027.
By integrating a high-end 8-player raid and introducing the new Intermediate difficulty mode, Square Enix is leveraging the combined popularity of both franchises to drive engagement for Evercold and the Remake trilogy's finale.
