GTA 5 Actor Robert Bogue Says Rockstar 'Ghosted' Him After 60 Auditions for GTA 6

Veteran voice actor Robert Bogue reveals a frustrating casting experience for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6.

Robert Bogue, a seasoned voice actor with a long history at Rockstar Games, has revealed that he auditioned for more than 60 roles in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 without receiving a single response. The disclosure highlights a stark disconnect between the actor's previous contributions to the franchise and his recent experience with the studio's casting process.

According to direct messages shared between Bogue and X user Anderson Burak on Instagram, the actor pursued a wide array of opportunities for the new title. "I must've auditioned for over 60 characters," Bogue stated, noting that the roles ranged from major figures to minor parts. Despite the volume of submissions, Bogue claims he never received feedback or a formal rejection. "I didn't get any of them, and they never called me about any of them," he added.

A History of Collaboration

Bogue is no stranger to the Rockstar ecosystem. He has provided voices for several high-profile titles, most notably portraying the corrupt FIB agent Steve Haines in Grand Theft Auto 5. His portfolio with the company also includes the role of Troy in GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony and the lead character Red Harlow in the original Red Dead Revolver.

While some GTA 5 alumni, such as Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno, have maintained active working relationships with the studio through GTA Online updates, others have faced a more turbulent path. Rockstar has a documented history of friction with talent; previously, actors including Michael Hollick, the voice of Niko Bellic in GTA 4, and Ray Liotta, who voiced Tommy Vercetti in Vice City, raised public concerns regarding pay and residuals.

The Cost of Secrecy

This incident underscores the precarious nature of voice acting and the immense scale of the GTA 6 production. The fact that a veteran collaborator was rejected dozens of times without notification suggests a casting process that prioritizes efficiency and secrecy over professional courtesy.

For the industry, the story serves as a reminder of the power imbalance between massive developers and the freelance talent they employ. Bogue expressed a mix of disappointment and resignation regarding the situation. "I'm sorry to throw Rockstar under the bus publicly about how many auditions I've had, but the truth is the truth," Bogue said. "At the end of the day, the actor's life is about rejection."

What's Next

Rockstar Games has not officially commented on Bogue's claims, maintaining its typical wall of silence regarding the development of GTA 6. As the industry awaits the game's release, the situation leaves questions about the studio's current internal culture and how it manages its legacy talent during the creation of what is expected to be one of the most expensive entertainment products in history.
