LEGO to Introduce Standard Minifigures for Super Mario Theme in 2027

LEGO has unveiled a new Super Mario product line that introduces standard-scale minifigures for the first time. The shift marks a significant departure from the theme's previous reliance on larger, interactive electronic toy units.
The new range, scheduled for release on January 1, 2027, features a variety of playsets that lean into traditional LEGO building. Among the highlights are Mario Kart themed sets, including "Racing with Mario" (72054) and "Bowser's Rumbling Race" (72058). The most ambitious offering in the wave is "Fire Mario & Bowser's Castle" (72060), which consists of 850 pieces and carries a retail price of $99.99.
A Return to Tradition
Since the inception of the LEGO Super Mario theme, the experience has centered around specialized, oversized figures equipped with digital sensors and screens to simulate gameplay. While these interactive elements provided a unique bridge between physical and digital play, they limited the ability of users to integrate Mario characters into the broader LEGO ecosystem.
