Players across various hardware configurations report persistent micro-stutters and frame drops. These performance dips occur even on top-tier hardware, including the RTX 5090. Beyond simple lag, Windows users have encountered total launch failures characterized by black screens and extreme CPU spikes. These crashes are linked to the game's anti-cheat system and multiple instances of the PlayStation PC SDK attempting to run simultaneously.
A Risky Engine Shift
This launch marks a significant technical transition for developer Arc System Works. Marvel Tokon is the studio's first title built using Unreal Engine 5, moving away from the Unreal Engine 4 framework used for previous hits. The project, first announced in June 2025, showed early signs of instability during a July 2026 open beta, which was plagued by PSN outages and performance struggles.
The Impact on Competitive Play
In the fighting game community, where frame-perfect precision is the baseline for competition, these technical flaws are more than a nuisance. Stuttering disrupts the game's rollback netcode, meaning a player with an unstable PC build can degrade the match quality for their opponent, regardless of the opponent's own hardware.

However, with core compatibility issues and high-end hardware stuttering still prevalent, the community remains cautious. While the day-one patch addresses some surface-level symptoms, the fundamental conflict between the anti-cheat system and various PC environments suggests a longer road to stability.
