YouTube personality Charles ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White is transitioning from digital content to the cinema with a full-length animated movie adaptation of his comic series, Godslap. The project is currently scheduled for a theatrical release in 2028.

Produced via Meatier Productions, the film will be animated by Powerhouse Animation—the studio recognized for its work on Castlevania: Nocturne—and co-developed by Lyrical Animation. The story centers on Aius, a young man possessing an extraordinary slapping ability, who ventures into the world after leaving his overprotective father, Darius. Daniel Dominguez, Creative Director at Lyrical Animation, described the opportunity to adapt the "anime-inflected, hilariously violent" comic as a "dream come true."

A Long-Term Ambition

The road to the big screen has been a multi-year process for White. He first approached Powerhouse Animation in 2018, but the project was initially abandoned due to the prohibitive costs of financing. The adaptation was revived three years ago after Powerhouse reached out to White to restart the collaboration. This trajectory reflects a growing trend of high-profile digital creators seeking traditional cinematic distribution, mirroring recent efforts by other influencers such as Markiplier with the film 'Iron Lung'.

Bypassing the Gatekeepers

The move represents a significant shift in how influencer-led intellectual property is developed. By partnering directly with a professional studio like Powerhouse, White is moving beyond the digital-first platforms that built his audience and entering the high-budget realm of professional theatrical animation. This approach allows creators to bypass traditional studio gatekeepers, ensuring that the original vision of the source material remains intact while utilizing industry-standard production pipelines.

The Path to 2028

As the project moves toward its 2028 release date, the industry will be watching to see how a creator-funded, influencer-driven property performs in a traditional theatrical environment. While the core production partnership is established, further details regarding the film's distribution partners and specific release windows remain to be seen. For now, the project stands as a high-stakes bet on the viability of translating internet-native comedy and storytelling into a cinematic experience.
