Pixelity Inc to Host First Public Preview of Evangelion XR Game in San Francisco
A limited group of fans will get an early look at 'EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS' this September.
Pixelity Inc has announced the first public preview for its upcoming immersive title, 'EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS'. The event is scheduled for September 25, 2026, in San Francisco, California, near Union Square.
According to Road to VR, the preview will be limited to approximately 80 participants selected via a lottery system. These attendees will be granted access to early builds of the game's 'Story Mode' and 'Battle Mode.' The event will also feature an augmented reality (AR) experience and detailed virtual reality (VR) recreations of the iconic NERV Headquarters.
The Shift to Immersive Media
Neon Genesis Evangelion, the seminal 1995 anime series, has long been recognized for its complex psychological narratives and influential mecha designs. While the franchise has appeared in various gaming formats over the decades, this project marks a significant departure from traditional gameplay. By utilizing both Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR), Pixelity Inc is attempting to translate the series' oppressive and atmospheric world into a fully immersive spatial environment.
Technical Ambitions and Market Impact
The integration of MR and VR suggests an ambitious technical scope for a project slated for a full 2027 release. Applying high-end XR technology to a legendary intellectual property of this scale represents a strategic move to expand the Evangelion franchise into the realm of immersive storytelling. For the industry, the success of such a high-profile IP in the XR space could signal a broader trend of legacy anime properties moving toward spatial computing to deepen fan engagement.
Looking Toward 2027
As the industry awaits the full launch next year, the San Francisco preview will serve as the first real-world test of the game's mechanics and stability. While the core modes and event logistics are confirmed, the full extent of the game's narrative and the specific characters featured in the AR components remain under wraps. Observers will be watching to see if the transition to XR maintains the psychological depth of the original series or focuses primarily on the spectacle of the mecha combat.
