Roboquest VR Hits Quest 3 With Cross-Platform Co-op Across All Major Headsets

Roboquest VR launched on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S on July 23, 2026, with a free update enabling two-player online co-op across Meta Quest, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR2.
The simultaneous release marks a rare technical achievement: players on all three major headset ecosystems can now squad up together. Cross-platform matchmaking supports Quickplay, Room Codes, and direct invites, removing the fragmentation that has long divided the VR multiplayer community.
The Quest version runs as a standalone title at $29.99, requiring no PC tether. This expands Roboquest VR's reach beyond its initial November 20, 2025 launch on SteamVR and PSVR2.
Flat2VR Studios developed the VR version in partnership with RyseUp Studios, creator of the 2023 flatscreen Roboquest. The VR edition is a ground-up reimagining built specifically for virtual reality, not a direct port.
Originally scheduled for May 21, 2026, the Quest release was delayed to optimize performance for standalone hardware. The result: full cross-play functionality across platforms that typically operate as walled gardens.
This three-way cross-platform support sets a precedent for VR multiplayer development. Meta, Valve, and Sony have historically maintained separate ecosystems with limited interoperability. Flat2VR and RyseUp have demonstrated that technical barriers to VR cross-platform gaming are surmountable.
The co-op update is free for existing owners on SteamVR and PSVR2, ensuring players who purchased at launch can immediately play with friends on the new Quest version.
