XPeng's Dogotix Raises $900 Million to Scale IRON Humanoid Robot

Dogotix, the humanoid robotics subsidiary of XPeng Motors, has raised approximately $900 million in a major funding round. The investment pushes the unit's post-transaction valuation to roughly $6.3 billion, marking one of the largest single private-equity deals for a robotics manufacturer in China.
The funding round included participation from several high-profile investors, including Tencent, Alibaba, and IDG Capital. The capital injection is earmarked to accelerate the development of the IRON humanoid robot and expand production facilities to support future commercial demand.
The Path to Commercialization
XPeng is moving aggressively to transition its robotics efforts from research and development to industrial scaling. The company has set a target to produce more than 1,000 IRON humanoid robots per month by the end of 2026. Following this production ramp-up, XPeng expects to begin commercial deliveries of the robots in 2027.
Based in Shenzhen, Dogotix focuses on the IRON humanoid model alongside a portfolio of quadruped and tracked robots designed for security, logistics, and smart home applications. This expansion reflects a broader strategic shift for XPeng Motors, founded in 2014 in Guangzhou, as it seeks to evolve from an electric vehicle and robotaxi manufacturer into a comprehensive AI mobility leader.
The Embodied AI Arms Race
This investment underscores the intensifying competition within the "embodied AI" sector. The scale of the Dogotix round mirrors strategies adopted by other global automotive giants, such as Tesla with its Optimus project and Hyundai's acquisition of Boston Dynamics, as they integrate advanced robotics into their industrial ecosystems.
China has become a primary battleground for this technology, absorbing two-thirds of the $8.7 billion in venture capital allocated to humanoid robotics globally this year.
