CACI International Inc. has been selected by the U.S. Space Force to modernize the technology architectures supporting the National Space Test and Training Complex. The initiative aims to enhance how the service validates orbital capabilities and prepares its personnel for complex space operations.
The work is being executed under the Innovative Technology Engineering Space Test and Range (NITE-STAR) contract. This multi-award indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) vehicle has a ceiling value of $981 million and utilizes a pool of 15 companies to deliver specialized engineering and technology services. Under this framework, CACI will help design and deploy environments that integrate live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) elements, including critical "live on-orbit" capabilities.
Expanding Space Force Infrastructure
This modernization comes as the U.S. Space Force continues to evolve its organizational structure to meet the demands of a contested orbital domain. Central to this effort is System Delta 81 (SYD 81), the unit specifically charged with managing the service's Operational Test and Training Infrastructure. By activating dedicated "system delta" units, the Space Force is attempting to create a space-based equivalent to the Air Force's "Red Flag" exercises, providing a rigorous environment where Guardians can test systems against simulated threats.
