China Releases World's Most Detailed High-Definition Lunar Geologic Atlas

China has released the 'Geologic Atlas of the Lunar Globe,' the first complete high-definition lunar geologic atlas in the world. The publication marks a significant leap in lunar cartography, providing the precise geological data necessary for future colonization and resource extraction.
Compiled over a decade by more than 100 researchers, the atlas features a scale of 1:2.5 million. This specification offers double the resolution of the maps produced during the Apollo era. The map is a comprehensive catalog of the lunar surface, documenting 12,341 impact craters, 81 impact basins, and 17 distinct types of rock. According to the project's findings, the atlas was developed primarily using scientific data gathered from China's Chang'e Project alongside other existing lunar research.
